SpainDMCS Awards 2013

The following awards were presented

DISTINGUISHED SUPPLIER awarded to Antoni Cintas in recognition of his long career in the sector, his innovative spirit, his perseverance, his close cooperation with DMCs and for achieving the transformation of the Hotel Barcelo Sants into a state-of-the-art property. The award was introduced by Juan Antonio Casas, President of SpainDMCs and presented by Olga Navarro, Secretary of the Barcelona Chapter of the association.

AWARD OF EXCELLENCE conferred on Manuel Macías, for his consistently professional commitment and support for DMCs dating from his time with Tourism Andalucía through to his current position with the Seville Convention Bureau. The award was introduced by Juan Antonio Casas, President of SpainDMCs and presented by Juan Antonio Sánchez, Secretary of the Seville Chapter of the association.

THE MELON AWARD won by Mr. Willie Walsh (Chief Executive of IAG), for managing to destroy Iberia, a vital company for tourism to Spain, through having stripped it back to the bare minimum with the likely result of wiping it out entirely, leaving Spain with only low cost carrier services that are so detrimental to the MICE segment. Neither Mr. Walsh, nor anyone representing him, turned up to receive the appropriate trophy which the Board of Directors of SpainDMCs will keep safe for him for whenever he wishes to pick it up.
