SpainDMCS Awards 2012

The following awards were presented

DISTINGUISHED SUPPLIER to the Sales Department of the Hotel Barceló Renacimiento of Seville for their policy of support and respect for DMCs.

AWARD OF EXCELLENCE to Airy Garrigosa, for her distinguished professional career heading up the Barcelona Convention Bureau, where she was always open to cooperation with DMCs as well as managing to attract major events to the city and helping Barcelona to achieve the exceptional status it enjoys in the international meetings and events industry.

THE MELON AWARD, this year was for the Right Honourable José Manuel Soria, Minister for Industry, Energy and Tourism for his total and utter lack of support for incoming MICE business, a sector that scarcely gets a mention in the Integrated National Plan for Tourism 2012-2016, a sector whose suggestions, recommendations and ideas are systematically ignored by the Spanish government.
Neither the Right Honourable José Manuel Soria, Minister for Industry, Energy and Tourism nor any of his Ministry’s representatives turned up to accept the award which the Board of SpainDMCs continues to hold at his disposal.
